FRANKLIN, Pa.-- When digital natives hear the word 'auction', they think of eBay or other online bid sites. However, for those in rural Pennsylvania live auctions take us to farms, flea markets, auto shows, estate sales, antique shows and so many other places where the bids fly as fast as the auctioneer can call them.
WCN reporter Jessie Klousnitzer introduces us to Neshannock Township's Jeff Pennington. He's the 2015 Pennsylvania Auctioneer's Association Champion. She caught up with him on the job calling an auction near Franklin in Venango County.
Jeff Pennington took home the top prize from the competition at the 36th Annual State Auctioneers Association Bid Calling Contest held earlier this year at the Pennsylvania Farm Show.
The competition consists of three rounds-and the third round pits the top 10 auctioneers where each was forced to sell toy tractors.
Judges declared Pennington champion based on his presentation, voice control, clarity and salesmanship.
